“Across the years I will walk with you –
in deep green forests; on shores of sand:
and when our time on earth is through,
in heaven, too, you will have my hand”
― Robert Sexton
When expressing your love and unflappable devotion to each other, we say it through our wedding vows.
Marriage is a lifelong commitment to one person. It is a covenant rather than a contract. A contract, at least to me, means fulfilling legal obligations while a covenant examines personal commitment.
Sadly, as the US stats show, half of our marriages end in divorce. Could be we have realized our partner is simply not compatible to our lifestyle. This fact crosses all socioeconomic lines.
For a marriage to survive, couples need to be engaged, have open lines of communication…common goals.
It takes some of us a lifetime to “get it together.” But how wonderful the journey is when we are accompanied by our partner of choice!
