“Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may again touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this bouncey-castle sequence of bumpings-into and tumblings-apart.”― Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Seems like today’s society has a certain cold disconnect from reality, from one another. We are so busy with our lives, our jobs, trying to make ends meet we forget that we are social creatures meant to interact. Instead, we get together over social media…no real human connection.
We disconnect in our day to day relationships with spouse, family, and friends…even coworkers.
Where does it all end?
We’ve become the “living dead” so to speak.
Have you ever in the past few weeks, even months simply stopped what you’re doing and appreciate the “here and now?” Have you shut down so much from the world around you that you live inside your own bubble of denial?
Reach out to people! Get to know them…reconnect with your loved ones. We also spend 8 plus hours a day with coworkers….find out what kind of people they are and talk….
Don’t lose touch with your humanity. Instead embrace it.
Remember…you too have worth.
Don’t just exist but live and step out of that old familiar rut…take an unknown leap forward, step out of your comfort zone.
