Our legacy of pain…

Living isn’t for the faint of heart. You have to either be crazy enough or blindly seek the courageous to risk your heart, your soul–perhaps your very sanity, for happily ever after. Loosen the tethers of your doubts and embrace the potential pain by risking it all.

The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity.
Ulysses S. Grant

For every moment of happiness that comes our way, we most certainly will be faced with adversity. You will  never know how sweet such peace of mind tastes without tasting some amount of pain.

Adversity is like a strong wind.  It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.  ~Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha
