Love and Strength

“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”
Louise Erdrich, The Painted Drum LP

It’s easy to say “I love you” but living those words, standing by them is a totally different matter.

When you truly love someone you always have their best interest at heart.  Love is not supposed to be selfish and unkind.

It also includes trust, devotion and friendship….laughter and tears…joy and sadness.

When you love someone and they have to go away for a while, there’s this tight empty feeling in your gut, and your heart.  All you want to do is cry but then you need to take a step back…look at the bigger picture–realize that this goodbye isn’t forever. You’ll see them again….I guess you gotta take it day by day. Feel out your “strength” see where you need to make improvements, who you can lean on…and keep moving forward.

Yeah, I know easier said than done but when you love a person, really love them….you’ll do what you can to ensure their happiness……..and ultimately yours.
