Most of us have suffered from a broken heart. Darlings…..you don’t get to be my age without having a little bit of wear and tear. I remember when I initially had my heart broken I vowed NEVER to fall in love again (how naive)
A broken heart literally feels just like that….as if someone took your most prized possession and tore it into pieces. There’s the sleepless nights, figuring out what you did wrong (and sometimes it wasn’t even your fault)….your stomach is in knots and you vow never to let anyone inside again.
But what kind of life is that? To remain single without experiencing again the unbridled joy of love?
So many poems, movies, artistic endeavors have been created out of it. A dazzling of the senses enveloping you with its toxic aroma. You expose yourself to the greatest of pains because you take the risk of finding that one true love making your life complete…..
But when they leave you…when they leave you the pain is simply indescribable.
“For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, It might have been.”
–John Greenleaf Whittier
