The biggest challenge to myself…


…is me.

I sometimes find it difficult to follow through on some issues.  Am sure there are others who are members of this elite club.

I don’t want to be this way.  I want to say:  “Marianna…you will do this and you will do it right, and quickly.” Then some interfering thought butts in and stirs me into a totally different direction.

Say for instance-exercise.

I have to work out. My military job depends on it, my health…you name it. But GOD why is it so difficult for some of us?

I hate running…I find exercise intellectually b.o.r.i.n.g.

Here are some tips:

Tip 1: Do Things You Really Enjoy

Doing exercise does not have to be such a boring task. You don’t have to stay at the gym and force yourself at the treadmill or stationary bike. Likewise, you don’t need to spend crazy amounts of money to buy exercise gadgets which, eventually, you would never use. Whatever you do that keeps your body moving is always better than not doing anything at all. Walking is something you can do almost anywhere. Even playing in the garden with your children is an exercise that you can easily add into your daily routine. We can even add dancing, swimming, house cleaning, gardening, biking, climbing stairs, and playing your favorite sport into the list.

Tip 2: Always Make Time For Some Exercise

In order to have time for exercise, you must really include it in your daily schedule. Think of it as a doctor’s appointment. We are all so busy with our daily routine, even so busy taking care of other people that we forget to give time for ourselves. With some effort we can make exercise become part of our daily life. And once we’ve done that, we’ll find that it is much easier to do it. Determining the best time to exercise will vary with different people. Usually you will have a certain time during the day to do the exercise. It may be in the morning, in the afternoon, or even in the evening. The important thing is to do it. Never let a day pass without doing some form of exercise. If you find it hard to do it alone, then ask a friend to exercise with you. Often times just being with a friend can make the whole exercise routine less boring and strenuous.

Tip 3: A Simple Exercise Can Energize Your Day

There will be times when you will feel too tired to do some exercise. But still, you must give it a try. In fact, you’ll be quite surprised to feel rather energized while doing the exercise, and after you finished. Exercise can also be a big help in relieving stress. And the less stress, you have, the more energy you’ll feel.

In the end we have to figure out what the “key” is to break us from the rut and move forward. I sure as hell need to.
